General

Can the team build a custom exhaust?

Yes. Oak Flats Muffler Men can design and fabricate systems for everyday repair, deeper tone, performance upgrades or custom sports fitment.

Do they work while you wait?

Some jobs can be completed while you wait. Larger exhaust system repairs, upgrades and part replacement work may need booking time.

What areas does the workshop serve?

The workshop supports Oak Flats, Albion Park Rail, Illawarra, Wollongong, Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands, Macarthur, Wollondilly and Sutherland Shire customers who book ahead.

What should a customer send in an enquiry?

Vehicle make, model, year, engine, current issue, desired sound or performance outcome, and any photos of the existing exhaust help the team respond quickly.

Custom exhaust systems

Can Oak Flats Muffler Men build an exhaust from scratch?

Yes. The team fabricates complete systems around the vehicle, the clearance and the sound you are after. If part of the old system can stay, you will be told first.

Do custom exhausts suit daily drivers?

Yes. Most custom work here goes onto commuters. The tone stays liveable and the ground clearance stays standard.

Muffler repairs and replacement

Can a muffler be repaired instead of replaced?

Often, yes. The metal around the leak gets checked before any call is made. A sound shell takes a weld repair at a fraction of replacement cost.

Should I drive with a leaking exhaust?

Get it looked at promptly. A leak ahead of the cabin can push fumes inside, and a loose section can drop onto the road.

Performance exhausts

Will a performance exhaust make the car too loud?

Not when it is planned. Muffler and resonator choice controls the volume, so you keep the note under throttle without the drone at 110.

How much power will an exhaust add?

That depends on the engine and what restricts it now. You will be told straight if an exhaust alone makes little difference on your vehicle.

Extractors and headers

Do extractors need the rest of the exhaust changed?

Not always. The existing pipework gets inspected first. If it flows and seals, it stays.

Can extractors change the sound?

Usually, with a sharper note higher in the revs. The tone gets talked through before fitting so nothing surprises you.

Stainless exhaust fabrication

Is stainless worth the extra cost?

If you plan to keep the vehicle, yes. A stainless section normally outlives the car around it. For something you are selling soon, mild steel can do the job.

Can you fabricate just one section in stainless?

Yes. Plenty of jobs replace only the rusted rear section and keep the rest of the system.

Exhaust pipes and chrome tips

Can tips be changed without replacing the whole system?

In most cases, yes. The existing pipe gets checked first so the new tip is not clamped onto rusted metal.

Do exhaust tips change the sound?

Barely. The muffler and resonator set the sound. The tip sets the look.

Exhaust fabrication

Can fabrication repair a cracked exhaust section?

If the surrounding metal is sound, yes. If it has rusted thin, a weld will not hold and you will be told so.

Does the workshop fabricate parts?

Light fabrication, yes. Trailer repairs, brackets and mounts come through the bay regularly.

ECU remaps and intake systems

Do I need a remap after an exhaust upgrade?

Not always. Many vehicles run fine on the standard tune. You will hear when a remap adds real value and when it does not.

Can intake and exhaust work be planned together?

Yes. Plenty of customers fit the exhaust first and add the intake or tune later. The order gets planned so nothing is done twice.

Truck and ute exhausts

Do you work on utes and light trucks?

Yes. Ring first with the GVM and the issue on bigger trucks so the team can confirm the hoist suits it.

Can work vehicles be booked quickly?

Call with the vehicle and the problem. When parts are on hand, plenty of repairs are finished the same day.

Still unsure? Send the vehicle details and the team will point you the right way.
