The MPI Automotive FX-710 is a set of 1-7/8in extractors with 3in outlets, listed to fit the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro V8. It replaces the factory manifolds at the front of the exhaust on the V8 Camaro.
What does this extractor set cover?
The FX-710 is a pair of tube extractors that bolt to the Camaro V8's heads, running 1-7/8in primary tubes into 3in outlets. They take the place of the cast factory manifolds — the first part of the exhaust — and connect into the rest of the system from there. This is the uncoated version of the set for the 2018 Camaro V8.
What is an extractor and what does it change?
An extractor, or header, replaces the cast factory manifold with separate steel tubes that merge into the outlets. Against the original casting, the 1-7/8in tubes aim to reduce the back-pressure each bank works against; they change nothing inside the engine. The trade-offs are scale and noise: a V8 header swap is a larger job than a rear-section change, and freeing up the front generally makes the car louder than stock.
