Listed for the Mazda from 1994, the Redback MCV097 is a one-piece manifold catalytic converter — manifold and cat in a single bolt-on assembly. On a car of this era it's the tidy way to replace a cracked manifold and a spent converter at the same time.

Why a combined manifold and cat on a mid-90s Mazda?

By the mid-1990s many small Mazdas ran the catalytic converter close-coupled to the manifold. When the substrate inside the cat breaks up or the manifold develops a crack, replacing them as the integrated MCV097 unit avoids chasing separate parts that may no longer be stocked. It bolts to the head and feeds the existing exhaust behind it.

What does the MCV097 cover?

This is the front section: the exhaust manifold plus the catalytic converter, supplied by Redback as one assembly. It doesn't change the muffler or tailpipe — those stay as they are. No power, flow or sound figures are published for it, so we won't quote any.

Is it right for my 1994 Mazda?

It's listed to fit the Mazda from 1994. Older fitments can vary with engine and market spec, so we check the listing against your actual car — confirm the build with us before ordering and we'll make sure the flange pattern and converter suit.

What's involved fitting it in the Illawarra?

Oak Flats Muffler Men replaces manifold catalytic converters at our Illawarra workshop. Old fasteners on a 30-year-old car often need care, so we allow for seized studs, fit new gaskets and reseal the joint. RRP is listed at 494 AUD; fitting is quoted after we've inspected the vehicle.

Stocked and fitted by Oak Flats Muffler Men, the Illawarra exhaust and 4x4 specialist in Oak Flats, NSW.
