The MPI Automotive MKHN0134 is a 2.5in dual cat-back for the VY HSV V8 sedan, with a single muffler running into a tailpipe on each side. One silencing stage per pipe makes it the more open of the 2.5in dual layouts for the VY.
What does muffler-and-tailpipe change?
Each line carries one muffler and then runs the pipe out to the tail — a single silencing stage per side rather than a doubled muffler run. With fewer boxes in the path the note is less restrained than a twin-muffler build, while the single muffler per pipe still tempers it. On a dual layout that gives the V8 twin paths out with a more open character. We can't quote a volume figure; a comparable fit is the honest reference.
Why the 2.5in dual bore?
Two-and-a-half inches is the tighter pipe, holding gas speed up for low-down and mid-range response on a street V8. Run as a dual it splits into two pipes the length of the car, pairing twin exits with near-stock pipe size. It stays a cat-back, so the catalytic converter and front pipework are retained as the factory fitted them; only the section behind the cat is replaced.
