The MPI Automotive MKHN0193 is a 2.5in without-muffler cat-back for the Holden Commodore VE ute and Maloo. With no rear muffler box in the run, it's the free-flowing, most open of the cat-back layouts for these utes.
What does a without-muffler cat-back do?
Without-muffler means the rear silencing box is left out: the 2.5in pipework runs cat-back with the muffler position deleted, so there's no chambered box damping the note. That makes it the loudest, freest-breathing of the cat-back options here — the choice for an owner chasing an open, hard note rather than a muted one. We can't quote a decibel figure; it's plainly louder than a muffled system, and a comparable fit is the honest reference.
Why the 2.5in bore?
Two-and-a-half inches keeps gas speed up through the run for low-down and mid-range response, while the without-muffler layout opens the note. It's a cat-back, so the catalytic converter and front pipework stay exactly as the factory fitted them — only the section behind the cat is replaced. The result is an open-sounding system that still leaves the emissions hardware in place.
