A hotdog is a small straight-through resonator: gas passes through a perforated core rather than around baffles, so it tunes out a specific drone frequency without choking flow. On the MKHN0251 it sits ahead of the rear muffler on the V8 ute, taking the edge off mid-range resonance through the tray and cabin before the rear box sets the final note.
