What does the long-wheelbase version change?
The MKHN0373 is routed for the long-wheelbase Colorado RC, which sits on a longer chassis than the short-wheelbase ute. That changes the pipe lengths and mounting points, which is why it's a separate part number. Get the wheelbase right and the system hangs where it should; get it wrong and the clearances won't line up.
How does the hotdog shape the note?
A hotdog is a straight-through resonator that passes gas through a perforated core rather than chambered baffles. It trims resonance and settles the tone without the restriction of a full muffler. On this cat-deleted build it gives a freer, harder note than a muffled system but a touch more composure than an empty pipe.
