A hotdog in the run is what separates the MPI Automotive MKHN0471 from the bare-pipe version: it's a cat-delete turbo-back for the 2.8L Holden Trailblazer that adds a compact straight-through resonator to take the edge off. With the cat deleted, it remains an off-road build, but the hotdog gives it more manners than a fully open system.
What does the hotdog add to a cat-delete system?
A hotdog is a short, straight-through resonator — gas flows through a perforated core rather than being bounced through chambers. On the MKHN0471 it sits in the run to trim drone and harshness while keeping flow high. So this is the cat-delete Trailblazer build for an owner who wants the converter gone for off-road use but doesn't want the undamped resonance of a straight pipe; the hotdog is the compromise between flow and refinement.
Is the MKHN0471 road legal?
No. It deletes the catalytic converter on a road-relevant turbo-back, so it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is supplied for off-road use only. There's no softening that — the hotdog tames the tone but doesn't restore the emissions hardware. For a registrable Trailblazer, choose a with-cat version.
