Built for the DPF Holden Colorado RG 2.8L from August 2016 on, the MPI Automotive MKHN0478 is a 3in turbo-back that keeps the catalytic converter and deletes only the rear muffler. It's the later, DPF-era car's cat-retaining option.

What sets the DPF-era version apart?

This part is listed for the August 2016-on Colorado RG 2.8L — the DPF-equipped car, not the earlier non-DPF utes. The DPF and non-DPF Colorados run different exhaust hardware, so matching the system to the right era matters. The MKHN0478 is a turbo-back, replacing the exhaust from the turbo outlet rearward, and at 3in it gives the 2.8L a generous bore over that span. It keeps the catalytic converter and deletes the rear muffler, so the emissions hardware stays while the tail opens up.

Cat-in, muffler-out — what changes?

Keeping the catalytic converter means the emissions component a registered diesel relies on stays in place, while removing the rear muffler lets more of the 2.8L's note carry through to the tail. It's the version for owners wanting the turbo-back step and a fuller sound without deleting the cat. We can't quote a sound level — the way to judge it is to hear a comparable fit.

Is it road legal?

The MKHN0478 keeps the catalytic converter, the emissions hardware most relevant to keeping a diesel ute registered, so that equipment remains as delivered. Deleting the rear muffler does change the factory silencing, and noise compliance is assessed on the whole vehicle — confirm the current NSW requirements and your intended use with the workshop before fitting.

What does fitting involve at our Illawarra workshop?

Oak Flats Muffler Men supplies and fits the MKHN0478 in-house across the Illawarra. We confirm the DPF-era application, seal the cat flange and set the hangers for a muffler-delete tail from the turbo back. Send your build details and we'll confirm the fitment and book the bay.

Common questions

Which Colorado does the MKHN0478 fit?
The DPF Holden Colorado RG 2.8L from August 2016 on. Confirm your build is a DPF-era car with us before ordering — the earlier non-DPF utes use different hardware.
Does it keep the catalytic converter?
Yes — it's a with-cat turbo-back, retaining the factory catalytic converter and deleting the rear muffler only.
Will it be louder without the muffler?
Deleting the rear muffler lets more of the diesel note through than stock. We can't quote a sound level — hear a comparable fit at the workshop.
