The MPI Automotive MKHN0479 is a 3in turbo-back for the non-DPF Holden Colorado RG 2.8L that deletes the cat but keeps a hotdog resonator — the off-road build that stays a notch more composed than a bare delete pipe. The cat-delete makes it off-road use only.
Is it road legal?
No. The MKHN0479 is a turbo-back that deletes the catalytic converter, so it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is intended for off-road use only. No softening — removing the cat removes emissions hardware the Colorado was registered with. We'll talk through where it can be used before you commit.
Why a hotdog on a cat-delete turbo-back?
A hotdog is a compact straight-through resonator — a perforated core in absorptive packing — so it takes the hard edge off the note without choking the 3in flow. On this cat-deleted Colorado turbo-back it gives a more open system than a cat-and-muffler build, while the hotdog stops it being a completely raw pipe. It's the middle ground of the off-road set: freer than a silenced exhaust, more measured than a no-muffler delete. We can't put a number on the volume.
