What does the MKMI0017 cover on the MQ Triton?
This is the 3in, with-cat, no-muffler turbo-back for the MQ-series Mitsubishi Triton. It replaces the exhaust from the turbocharger outlet rearward, and at 3in it's a larger-bore run than a cat-back covers. Keeping the catalytic converter leaves the factory emissions hardware in place. The deleted rear muffler means a louder note than stock, so this is the more vocal of the cat-retaining options.
What is a turbo-back, and why this configuration?
A turbo-back picks up at the turbo outlet rather than the cat, so it takes in the bigger-bore section where a turbo-diesel breathes more freely.
