The MPI Automotive MKNI0121 is a 3in Nissan Patrol TD42 GU Wagon system that picks up off the base of the cast dump and runs a centre hotdog. The Wagon-specific routing is what sets this version apart — it's shaped for the wagon body's underfloor and rear, not a ute tray.

What does off the base of the cast dump mean here?

On the TD42 GU the cast dump is the turbo dump casting at the front of the exhaust. This system starts off the base of that dump and runs 3in rearward, so it replaces the exhaust from that point back rather than touching the dump itself. It's the full rear run for the diesel Patrol, built to bolt to the factory casting and carry the gas away at a consistent bore.

Why is the Wagon version routed differently?

A GU Patrol Wagon and a ute carry their exhaust through different rear floors — the wagon has its body and rear suspension where a ute has a tray and chassis. This is the Wagon-specific build, so the pipe routing and clearances suit the wagon shape. Matching the body means the system tucks where it should rather than being made to fit a tray it wasn't shaped for.

What does the centre hotdog do?

A hotdog is a compact straight-through resonator — a perforated core in packing, no baffles — so it tidies the note without choking flow. As the centre of this TD42 system it settles the diesel drone while keeping the 3in run open, sitting more open than a chambered centre muffler would.

What does fitting involve at our Illawarra workshop?

Oak Flats Muffler Men fits TD42 systems like this in-house across the Illawarra. We confirm it picks up cleanly off the cast dump, hang the centre hotdog and check the wagon-body clearances on the way through. The MKNI0121 is a special-order item with a published RRP of $1,044.76.

Common questions

Is this the Wagon version?
Yes — it's routed for the Nissan Patrol TD42 GU Wagon body, so the pipe path and clearances suit the wagon rather than a ute tray. Confirm your exact build with the workshop.
What does it bolt to at the front?
It picks up off the base of the cast turbo dump and runs 3in rearward, so it replaces the system from that casting back. We confirm the connection on fitting.
