Holden Commodore VT VU VY VZ Sedan V8 Centre Muffler for selected vehicle applications.
Category: Mufflers and resonators

The MPI Automotive SSMBM270MF is the sedan-specific centre muffler for the V8 Commodore. Where the ute and wagon centre boxes are routed for the longer bodies, this one is packaged for the VT-VZ V8 sedan floorpan.
The VT-VZ sedan routes its centre exhaust differently to the ute and wagon — a different floorpan and hanger layout toward the middle of the car. This centre muffler is the version matched to the sedan, so it sits in the saloon's centre location and clears the underfloor correctly. A long-body part generally won't line up under a sedan.
It's the chambered mid-system box, ahead of the rear silencer, doing much of the quietening while the gas is still hot. It quietens by absorption rather than choking flow, so it keeps the V8 sedan civil through the middle of the system without strangling the engine. On a car of this age the centre box is a frequent rust-out and split point that turns up as drone or a rasp under load, so replacing a rotten or split unit seals the leak and restores the factory note.
It's listed to fit the Commodore sedan in V8 form across the VT, VU, VY and VZ series. Confirm your exact series and build with the workshop before ordering.
Oak Flats Muffler Men fits centre mufflers in-house across the Illawarra, checking the hangers and clearances on the sedan floorpan. MPI Automotive lists it at $780.52; send your VT-VZ sedan details through and we'll confirm the fit.
