The MPI Automotive SSMBM318MF is the left-hand-side rear muffler in 3in, listed to fit the DT-series RAM 1500 5.7L V8 HEMI — the driver's-side half of a dual-rear setup.
This is the left-hand, driver's-side rear muffler for the RAM 1500. On a dual-rear truck each side runs its own muffler, and the SSMBM318MF is the LHS unit, shaped to hang and exit on that side. It's a chambered rear muffler doing the final silencing by absorption and reflection, paired with its right-hand counterpart to finish the back of the system.
At 3in the SSMBM318MF is the larger pipe size matched to the 5.7L HEMI V8's appetite for flow. A big-displacement V8 benefits from the extra cross-section through the rear silencer, so the 3in body keeps the gas moving on the left side rather than restricting it. It's listed to fit the DT-series RAM 1500 with the 5.7L V8.
As a rear muffler, this is a silencing part rather than a catalytic converter or sensor, so the RAM's factory emissions hardware stays put. It alters the note on the driver's side, not the emissions. Confirm any state-specific requirements with the workshop.
Oak Flats Muffler Men fits RAM rear mufflers in-house across the Illawarra. On the left side we check hanger load and clearance to the chassis and tray on a heavy dual-cab. Send your DT build and we'll confirm the LHS fitment and book the bay.
