The 3in bore is the headline here: it's the larger pipe size suited to a big-displacement V8 like the RAM's 5.7L HEMI, where the extra cross-section lets the engine breathe through the rear of the system. The SSMBM319MF is a chambered rear muffler that quietens by absorption and reflection, so at 3in it carries the silencing for the right side without pinching the flow a V8 this size wants.
