Holden Commodore VL Commodore 3.0L 6 Cylinder 3in Catback Muffler/Tailpipe.
Category: Mufflers and resonators

The MPI Automotive SSMKHN0028 is a 3in cat-back with a muffler and tailpipe, listed to fit the Holden VL Commodore 3.0L six-cylinder. This is the naturally aspirated VL section — a cat-back rather than the turbo-back, in the muffler-and-tailpipe build.
Unlike the VL turbo-back parts, the SSMKHN0028 is a cat-back — the section from the catalytic converter rearward — for the naturally aspirated 3.0L six. It runs 3in with a rear muffler and tailpipe. The cat-back is the right scope for an NA VL, where the run from the cat back is what's worth replacing. We state only the 3in diameter MPI lists for this part.
This build runs a chambered rear muffler feeding the tailpipe — the more subdued tail arrangement. A chambered muffler reflects and absorbs pressure pulses through internal baffles, keeping the 3.0L six's note controlled at cruise. There's no published sound figure, so we describe it by muffler type only.
The SSMKHN0028 is listed to fit the Holden VL Commodore 3.0L six-cylinder (naturally aspirated). The VL's under-floor routing is specific, so confirm your exact build with the workshop before ordering so the section, hangers and tailpipe line up.
We supply and fit this MPI cat-back in-house across the Illawarra. We check the flange, hangers and clearance on your VL before booking the bay. It can be a special order — send your build and we'll confirm stock and timing.
