The MPI Automotive SSMKHN0030 is a 3in turbo-back system with a muffler and tailpipe, listed to fit the Holden VL Commodore Turbo 3.0L. The turbo-back span is the angle — it replaces the run from the turbo outlet back on the VL's boosted 3.0L six.
What does a turbo-back cover on the VL Turbo?
A turbo-back replaces the exhaust from the turbo outlet rearward — a longer span than a cat-back — and that's where a boosted engine like the VL's 3.0L turbo six tends to free up. The SSMKHN0030 runs 3in with a rear muffler and tailpipe. On a turbo car the bigger-bore step off the turbo helps spool and flow, which is why the turbo-back is the meaningful section to upgrade. Why the muffler-tailpipe build?
This configuration runs a chambered rear muffler feeding the tailpipe — the more subdued tail arrangement.
