The MPI Automotive SSMKHN0239 takes the 3in dual cat-back for the VU–VY–VZ Holden Commodore V8 ute and silences it with a hotdog resonator instead of a full muffler. The hotdog trims drone while keeping the dual 3in flow free.
What does the hotdog do on a dual 3in ute system?
A hotdog is a compact straight-through resonator: gas passes through a perforated core, tuning out cruising drone with much less flow loss than a chambered muffler. On a dual 3in cat-back that keeps the freer character of the bigger bore while taking the edge off the boom an open ute can produce.
Why dual 3in pipework?
The dual 3in layout runs two large pipes from the cat-back rearward, giving the most rear flow area of the ute options. It suits a higher-capacity or modified V8, splitting gas evenly across both banks down the ute floor — and the hotdog keeps it freer than a muffler build.
