The MPI Automotive SSMKHN0377 is the cat-delete, hotdog-equipped build for the short-wheelbase Holden Colorado RC 3.0L. It removes the catalytic converter and runs a compact straight-through resonator in its place.
What does cat-delete change on this RC?
Deleting the catalytic converter strips the main flow restriction out of the system, and the SSMKHN0377 pairs that with a hotdog resonator rather than a silencing muffler. The result is the freest-flowing, hardest-edged version of this short-wheelbase Colorado section. Because it deletes the catalytic converter on a road-relevant system, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is intended for off-road or competition use only.
Why a hotdog instead of a full muffler?
The hotdog is a short straight-through resonator: exhaust passes through a perforated core surrounded by packing, so it knocks a frequency band off the drone without restricting flow the way a chambered muffler does. On a cat-deleted ute that keeps the note present but takes the harshest resonance out at cruise.
