Stripped right back, the MPI Automotive SSMKHN0378 runs the short-wheelbase Holden Colorado RC 3.0L (2008-2010) with no catalytic converter and no rear muffler. With the converter deleted, it's an off-road-only system in NSW.
Is it road legal?
No. Deleting the catalytic converter on a road-relevant exhaust takes the SSMKHN0378 outside ADR 79/04, so it is not compliant for road registration in NSW and is sold for off-road and competition use only. We state that plainly up front so there's no confusion about where this system can be run.
What's the effect of removing both the cat and the muffler?
Clearing out the converter and the rear muffler leaves nothing in the path to reflect, absorb or restrict the gas. The 3.0L diesel breathes through its most open route and produces its hardest, loudest character — the trade-off being a note well above standard inside and out.
