The MPI Automotive SSMKHN0477 is a 3in stainless turbo-back system for the Holden Colorado RG 2.8L non-DPF (2012 onward), keeping the catalytic converter and running a hotdog resonator. As a turbo-back it replaces the lot from the turbo outlet rearward, the full engine-back upgrade for the early Colorado diesel.
What does a turbo-back cover on the Colorado?
A turbo-back run replaces the exhaust from the turbo outlet all the way back, a longer span than a cat-back and the bigger-bore step where a 2.8L diesel like the Colorado's tends to free up. At 3in it's sized for the engine, and it's specified for the non-DPF version of the RG, so it suits the earlier 2012-onward trucks without a diesel particulate filter.
Why the hotdog resonator?
This system uses a hotdog, a compact straight-through resonator, rather than a large chambered muffler in that position. A hotdog cuts drone and tidies the note while staying free-flowing, which suits a diesel ute where you want the boom taken out without choking the system. It keeps the catalytic converter in place as part of the run.
Is it road legal?
Because the SSMKHN0477 keeps the catalytic converter, it leaves that emissions hardware the Colorado left the factory with in place, the sticking point for compliance on diesel utes. Confirm the exact build and any state requirements with the workshop before fitting.
