Keeping the catalytic converter while running 3in turbo-back with no rear muffler, the MPI Automotive SSMKHN0478 is the cat-retaining, muffler-deleted system for the non-DPF Holden Colorado RG 2.8L. It holds the emissions hardware and opens the tail.
Cat-in turbo-back — what's the layout?
A turbo-back replaces the exhaust from the turbo outlet rearward, so it's the engine-back upgrade rather than a tailpipe change. The SSMKHN0478 keeps the catalytic converter in that run — the emissions component a registered diesel relies on — but deletes the rear muffler. At 3in that gives the 2.8L a generous bore from the turbo back while leaving the cat in place, so it's the version for owners who want the turbo-back step and a fuller note without removing the catalytic converter, unlike the cat-delete builds in this family.
