The MPI Automotive SSMKNI0096 is a 3in turbo-back system for the Nissan NP300 Navara that deletes the catalytic converter and runs a rear muffler. Leaving the cat out is the defining trait — and the one with consequences, because a cat-delete on the diesel Navara's exhaust is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is for off-road use only.

What does a turbo-back without cat involve?

A turbo-back system replaces the exhaust from the turbo outlet rearward — a longer span than a cat-back and the section where a 3in bore opens up flow on a diesel like the NP300. This version omits the catalytic converter and finishes through a rear muffler to keep the note in check. Removing the cat is exactly why it sits outside road compliance, so it's intended for closed-course or off-road applications, not a registered vehicle on NSW roads.

Is it road legal?

No. Because the SSMKNI0096 deletes the catalytic converter on a road-relevant turbo-back system, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW. It's an off-road-only part. We won't soften that: if your Navara is registered and driven on the road, this is not the system for it, and we'll talk you through the with-cat alternative instead.

Why choose the 3in bore and rear muffler?

The 3in diameter suits the Navara's diesel output where a freer-flowing turbo-back is wanted, and the rear muffler keeps volume civil rather than running open. For off-road and competition use, deleting the cat removes that restriction entirely — the trade-off being the legality point above. Sound character follows from the muffler and open-cat layout; we don't publish any decibel figure.

What does fitting involve at our Illawarra workshop?

Oak Flats Muffler Men supplies and fits turbo-back systems in-house across the Illawarra. For this off-road-only build we confirm intended use up front, then set the 3in run and rear muffler clearances on your NP300. It's listed to fit the Nissan NP300 Navara; send your exact build and we'll confirm before booking.

Common questions

Is the SSMKNI0096 legal for road use in NSW?

What's the difference between this and the with-cat version?
This SSMKNI0096 omits the catalytic converter; the with-cat turbo-back retains it for road compliance. Talk to the workshop about which suits your use.
Will it fit my NP300 Navara?
It's listed to fit the Nissan NP300 Navara as a 3in turbo-back with a rear muffler. Confirm your exact build with the workshop before ordering.
