The MPI Automotive SSMKNI0106 is a full exhaust system for the Nissan Patrol GU 4.5L that runs two hotdog resonators — one centre, one rear — and deletes the catalytic converter. The twin hotdogs keep it free-flowing rather than heavily muffled.

What's a hotdog, and why two of them?

A hotdog is a compact straight-through resonator: gas passes through a perforated core wrapped in packing, so it trims harshness without the restriction of a chambered muffler. Running a centre and a rear hotdog on the SSMKNI0106 spreads that tuning along the system for a freer-flowing, harder note than a muffler full-system would give on the same Patrol. Sound character follows the design — straight-through is the harder, freer voice — and we describe it that way rather than with a decibel figure we cannot measure.

Is it road legal in NSW?

No. The SSMKNI0106 is a no-cat full system, so it removes the catalytic converter. That makes it not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and it is for off-road use only. There is no softening of that: a road-driven Patrol needs its emissions hardware in place, so this system suits competition, paddock or private-property use rather than a registered vehicle.

Will it suit my Patrol GU 4.5L?

It is listed to fit the Nissan Patrol GU 4.5L. The series, years and bore are not published by the supplier, so confirm your exact build with the workshop before committing — the listing is a guide, not a guarantee, and the GU ran a long time across several builds.

What does fitting involve at our Illawarra workshop?

Oak Flats Muffler Men supplies and fits full Patrol systems in-house across the Illawarra. Because this one deletes the cat, we'll confirm your intended use, check the hotdog and hanger positions under the GU, and verify the listing against your build before booking. As a full made-to-order system it is brought in against your vehicle rather than stocked.
