This is a titanium exhaust-manifold stud kit (TITANIUM-EXHAUST-MANIFOLD-STUD-KIT-TO-SUIT-NISSAN-TD42) made to suit the Nissan TD42, the inline-six diesel that powered the Patrol. It's the hardware that clamps the manifold to the head — studs in titanium rather than the usual steel — supplied by Radius Fabrications.
What does a manifold stud kit do?
Exhaust-manifold studs are the threaded fasteners that hold the manifold (or extractors) tight against the cylinder head, sealing the joint where the hottest exhaust gas leaves the engine. They live in a brutal heat-cycling environment, which is where original studs tend to corrode, stretch or seize. A dedicated kit gives you the correct count and length to do the whole manifold face in one go rather than chasing individual fasteners.
Why titanium, and why the TD42?
This kit is specified in titanium and listed to suit the Nissan TD42.
