Reviewed: Manta 3in Full System with HPC Extractors for the Nissan Patrol Y62

Manta's flagship Y62 system reviewed: ceramic coated extractors, high flow cats and 3 inch stainless from the heads to the tailpipe, plus the drone question owners actually ask about.

The Y62 Patrol hides a 5.6 litre petrol V8 behind one of the most muffled factory exhausts in the 4x4 aisle. Manta's SSMKNI0136 is the full correction: a 3 inch stainless system that starts at the cylinder heads with ceramic coated extractors and finishes at the rear tailpipe. It suits owners who want the whole job done once, not in stages.

What you are looking at

Manta has been bending pipe in Australia since 1974, and this is the top of its Y62 range. The kit replaces everything: HPC ceramic coated extractors, high flow catalytic converters, mandrel bent 3 inch stainless pipework, a straight through hotdog centre section and the rear tailpipe. The ceramic coating is not decoration. It keeps under bonnet temperatures in check where bare extractors would radiate heat at everything around them. Because the pipework is stainless, it carries Manta's 10 year warranty. On a vehicle most people keep for a decade, that matters.

How it behaves on the road

Owners on the Patrol forums rate Manta gear for fit and tone: deep and smooth rather than tinny, with hardware that lines up the way the brochure promises. The hotdog centre in this configuration gives the V8 a real voice under load while staying civil around town. The honest catch is drone. Several owners report a little of it at highway revs, and towing makes it more noticeable. If you tow a van every other weekend, ask us about the muffler centre version of the same system before you commit.

Fitment and price reality

At $6,006.84 RRP this is a serious spend before fitting. Extractor work on a Y62 is a proper hoist job with new gaskets and care around sensors, not a Saturday driveway swap. The saving grace is that Manta builds the range in stages. If the full system is past the budget, the stainless cat back versions start from about $2,600 and bolt to the factory front end. The extractors can come later without redoing anything.

The workshop call

If the Patrol is a keeper, this is the strongest single change you can make to how it sounds and breathes, with a warranty that outlasts most ownership. Call the workshop before you order anything. We will confirm the exact part number against your build and check the centre section choice against how you actually drive. Then we will quote the whole thing fitted.
