Every Silverado 1500 sold new in Australia has already been pulled apart once, remanufactured to right hand drive in Melbourne before it reaches a dealer. The exhaust stayed American: quiet, single minded and a poor match for a 6.2 litre V8. Manta's twin 3 inch cat-back, here in its loud configuration, is the local industry's answer.

What you are looking at

SSMKCH0017 is a full stainless cat-back for the 6.2 litre EcoTec3 V8 in the LTZ and Trail Boss, running twin 3 inch pipework from the factory catalytic converters rearward. Manta says it built the first Australian made twin 3 inch system for the right hand drive Silverado. It is engineered here for the RHD truck rather than imported and persuaded to fit. Nothing forward of the cats changes, so emissions hardware is untouched and the job stays a straight bolt on. Stainless pipe brings Manta's 10 year warranty. The brand also builds a quieter configuration of the same cat-back if the loud option oversteps.

How it behaves on the road

Loud means loud. With 313 kW of pushrod V8 breathing through free flowing twin 3 inch pipes, the truck gains a deep rolling idle. Under throttle there is a serious voice that matches how big the thing already feels. The trade off is cab noise at a cruise. Big American cabins resonate, and an open rear section will boom on light throttle in a way the factory system never did. If the Silverado is your tow rig and you spend hours at 100 km/h, be honest with yourself and look at the quieter version. If it is the truck you bought because of what is under the bonnet, this is the configuration that lets the 6.2 introduce itself.

Fitment and price reality

$3,577.72 RRP is real money for a rear section, and worth weighing against what it actually is: a full twin stainless system sized for the truck, not an adapted import. Fitting is uncomplicated by Silverado standards: factory cat flanges at the front, hangers at the rear, no ECU work. There are no compliance questions either, because the cats stay where GM put them.

The workshop call

For a 6.2 Silverado that deserves to sound like one, this is the cleanest route there: Australian made, stainless, warranted for a decade and fully reversible. Call us before ordering. We will confirm the part number against your build and model year, talk you through loud versus the quieter configuration honestly, and quote it fitted.
