The Radius Fabrications 79-SERIES-LANDCRUISER-SNORKEL is a 304 stainless, rear-facing snorkel listed to suit the driver's-side Toyota 79 Series LandCruiser (VDJ). Its intake head points backward rather than into the airstream — a deliberate orientation chosen to keep dust and water out of the direct path.

Why a rear-facing head?

A rear-facing intake opening turns away from the direction of travel. On a working VDJ 79 Series that lives in dust and the occasional water crossing, owners choose this orientation so the worst of the airborne grit and spray isn't driven straight into the opening. It's an orientation decision, not a flow tweak — the snorkel still draws the engine's air from up at the A-pillar, just facing aft.

What does the snorkel itself do?

Like any snorkel, this one relocates the engine's air pickup from down in the engine bay up to roof height at the pillar, where the air is cleaner and less likely to be drawn through dust or water. The 304 stainless body is the durable part of that story, holding up to the mud, salt and heat a 79 Series cops in regular off-road use.

Will it suit my 79 Series?

It's listed to suit the driver's-side Toyota 79 Series LandCruiser (VDJ). Because it's side-specific and snorkel fit turns on the exact pillar and guard, confirm your build with the workshop before ordering — listed-to-fit is the start of the conversation, not a guarantee for every variant.

What does fitting involve in the Illawarra?

Oak Flats Muffler Men fits stainless snorkels like this in-house across the Illawarra. Fitting means drilling and sealing the guard on the driver's side, mounting the rear-facing body to the pillar and joining it to the airbox so it seals. Book it in and we'll set it up.

Stocked and fitted by Oak Flats Muffler Men, the Illawarra exhaust and 4x4 specialist in Oak Flats, NSW.
