The MPI Automotive EMG170-GRPA is a Group A exhaust gasket with round ports, listed to fit the Holden VN to VS 5.0L. It seals the exhaust joint at the head for the round-port Group A application on that V8.
What is the round-port Group A gasket about?
This gasket is cut with round ports to match the Group A head arrangement on the Holden VN to VS 5.0L, as opposed to the standard port shape. The round-port design means it has to be matched to that specific head rather than a generic VN–VS gasket. It is a consumable sealing part that seals the flange between the manifold or extractors and the head; it is not a performance part itself.
Why does port shape matter?
An exhaust gasket only seals properly if its port openings line up with the head's ports. The Group A round-port heads use a different opening to the standard ones, so the EMG170-GRPA is the matching gasket for that variant.
