The MPI Automotive EMG218 is a manifold gasket listed to fit the Mazda B2600 and Ford Raider with the 2.6-litre EFI engine. It's the sealing gasket between the cylinder head and the exhaust manifold, not the manifold itself.
What does this gasket cover?
The EMG218 is the flat exhaust gasket for the 2.6-litre EFI four shared by the Mazda B2600 ute and the Ford Raider. It seals the joint where the manifold or extractor meets the head, keeping exhaust gas in the runner rather than leaking at the flange. The same engine sat in both badges, which is why the gasket is listed against the Mazda and the Ford together.
What is a manifold gasket and what does it do?
A manifold gasket is the replaceable seal between the cylinder head and the exhaust manifold or extractor. It is renewed whenever the manifold comes off — for a head job, a leak, or an extractor upgrade — because the old gasket sets hard with heat and won't reseal. A failed one ticks or hisses under load and can let fumes through. It does not change how the engine runs; its job is to keep the head-to-manifold joint gas-tight across the engine's heat cycles.
