The MPI Automotive EMG320 is an extractor gasket listed to fit the Nissan Navara D40 with the VQ40 V6 engine, from 2005. It is the sealing gasket that goes between the extractors and the cylinder head on that engine.
What does an extractor gasket do?
An extractor gasket seals the joint between the extractors (or the factory manifold) and the cylinder head, so exhaust gas does not leak out at the flange. The EMG320 is cut for the Nissan Navara D40's VQ40 V6 port pattern. It is a consumable sealing part rather than a performance part; a fresh one goes in whenever the manifold or extractors come off so the joint seals cleanly.
When do you replace it?
Exhaust gaskets are replaced any time the extractors or manifold are removed, and on their own if an old gasket has started to leak or blow at the head. Reusing a crushed gasket tends to leak, so a new EMG320 is cheap insurance when the headers come off the VQ40.
