The MPI Automotive FX-609 is an extractor set listed to fit the Toyota Hilux LN147, LN167 and LN172 (1997-02) with the 3.0L 5L engine. It replaces the standard exhaust manifold with a tuned extractor to gather the exhaust pulses off the head.
What does a set of extractors change?
Extractors (also called headers) replace the cast exhaust manifold with separate, length-matched primary pipes that merge downstream. The idea is to let each cylinder's exhaust pulse leave more cleanly rather than sharing a lumpy cast collector, which can help an engine breathe through its rev range.
