What does this header cover?
The FX-700HPC-S is a primary header for the 4.2L 1HZ Landcruiser — the tube section that bolts to the cylinder head and takes the exhaust gases off the engine. It replaces the cast factory manifold on the HZJ75, HZJ78, HZJ79 and HZJ80, and the steel is ceramic-coated to handle the heat coming off a hard-working diesel six.
What is a ceramic-coated header and what does it change?
A primary header swaps the cast factory manifold for tube runners that gather the gases from each cylinder. Against the original casting it aims to reduce back-pressure off the engine; on a 1HZ diesel that often runs warm, the ceramic coating is there to manage under-bonnet heat and protect the finish. The trade-off is that header fit on a body-on-frame 4WD has to be confirmed on the actual vehicle, including clearance to the chassis and surrounding gear.
