The VL is an earlier Commodore than the VN-onward cars, with its own floorpan and rear routing, and this kit is cut for that body with the turbo and V8 drivelines in mind. Matching the cat-back to the VL means the pipework follows the right path and the hangers line up. It runs two Everflo mufflers with a tailpipe on a 2in body, spreading the silencing across two boxes along the car.
A cat-back replaces the run from the catalytic converter back — pipe, mufflers and tailpipe — so the factory cat and the emissions hardware ahead of it stay in place. With two Everflo mufflers and the tailpipe included, it's supplied as a complete rear section that bolts up in one go, which makes it the clean reset for a tired VL system. Splitting the silencing over two boxes tends to keep the note even down the length of the car.
