The two silencers do different jobs. The hotdog is a compact straight-through resonator that targets resonance and drone without choking flow, while the Everflo rear muffler handles the bulk of the volume at the tail. Running both means the centre of the car stays settled and the final note is set by the rear box — a tidier result than asking one muffler to manage everything on a single-pipe VT–VY six. The system is built on a 2in body to suit the standard or lightly worked V6.
A cat-back swaps the whole run from the catalytic converter back — pipe, resonator, muffler and tailpipe — so the factory cat and the emissions hardware ahead of it stay in place. As a complete kit it's supplied to fit as a section rather than piecing it together box by box, which makes it the straightforward reset when the rear of an older Commodore system is worn out.
