Pared back to a single resonator, this kit (HOLDEN-COMMODORE-VY-SERIES-II-V6-SEDAN-2-1-2-CATBACK-KIT-INC-HOTDOG-TAILPIPE) is a 2in cat-back for the VY Series II V6 Commodore sedan running just a hotdog and a tailpipe — the keenest-priced, most open of the VY sedan kits.
Leaving out the chambered muffler and running a single hotdog resonator keeps the flow path open. The hotdog passes gas through a perforated core while damping select frequencies, so the note stays more vocal than a muffler kit. For a VY sedan owner this is the budget, free-flowing route — presence over a hushed cabin, with the least silencing hardware of the sedan options.
It's the section from the catalytic converter rearward, here at 2in for the V6. The converter and front pipe stay; this kit reworks the rear with the hotdog and tailpipe alone, leaving the engine's standard breathing as it was.
