Built for the load-carrying body shapes, this kit (HOLDEN-COMMODORE-VY-SERIES-II-V6-UTE-WAGON-2-1-2-CATBACK-KIT-INC-2-X-HOTDOGS) is a 2in cat-back for the VY Series II V6 Commodore ute and wagon, running twin hotdog resonators for an open, free-flowing rear section.
A hotdog is a straight-through resonator: gas passes through a perforated core with minimal restriction while select frequencies are damped. Two of them in place of a chambered muffler keep the path open and the note on the harder, more open side. On a ute or wagon the flatter rear floor gives room to route the pair cleanly under the tray or load area.
It replaces everything from the catalytic converter back, sized here at 2in for the V6. The converter and front pipe stay; the kit reworks flow and tone through the rear, which is where the twin hotdogs do their work.
It's listed to fit the Holden Commodore VY Series II V6 in ute and wagon form. The two bodies share much of the rear layout but differ at the very back, so confirm your exact body, model and year with the workshop before ordering.
