The Pacemaker KBD12009-XXXM is the muffler version of the 3in DPF-back for the Toyota LandCruiser 70/79 Series V8 4.5L single-turbo ute (2016 on, single and dual cab), built to fit behind the factory DPF and quieten the note through a rear muffler.
Why the muffler version on a 70 Series?
On a working diesel ute, the muffler in this 3in DPF-back is what keeps the cab liveable — it dampens by absorption and reflection, so the note stays subdued for long days behind the wheel. That's the trade against the resonator variant, which targets drone rather than overall volume. If you want the quieter result, this is the one.
What is a DPF-back and what does 3in mean here?
A DPF-back replaces the exhaust from behind the factory diesel particulate filter rearward, leaving the DPF and the emissions hardware in front of it in place. At 3in it's a larger bore than the standard tailpipe, which is the section a workshop changes to free up flow and set the sound on these single-turbo V8s.
