Running a resonator instead of a muffler, the Pacemaker KBD12009-XXXR is the 3in DPF-back for the Toyota LandCruiser 70/79 Series V8 4.5L single-turbo ute (2016 on, single and dual cab) — it targets drone rather than damping overall volume.
What does the resonator do here?
A resonator is a tuning device, not a broadband silencer: it's aimed at a specific frequency to cut the drone that diesel 70 Series owners notice at highway speed, without the heavier damping a muffler applies. So this version keeps more of the V8's voice while taking the edge off cruise resonance — the opposite trade to the muffler variant.
What's a DPF-back, and the 3in bore?
This is the section from behind the factory diesel particulate filter rearward, with the DPF and front-of-system emissions hardware left untouched. At 3in it's a larger tailpipe bore than standard — the run a workshop swaps to free flow and shape the note on these single-turbo 4.5L V8s.
