The MPI Automotive MHF5210 is a header flange for the Holden 253 and 308 V8, cut for 1⅝in primary tubing and machined to the non-EFI head pattern. Two things define it: the small-bore 1⅝in primaries and the non-EFI head profile it's matched to — the carburettor-era head, not the later injected layout.
Why the non-EFI head pattern matters
The MHF5210 is profiled for the non-EFI Holden V8 head — the earlier, carburettor-era casting. Head pattern is what makes or breaks a flange: the bolt holes and port spacing have to land on your head exactly. Getting the non-EFI version means it's matched to that specific layout rather than the later injected head, so confirm which head your 253 or 308 wears before ordering.
What does 1⅝in primary tubing suit?
The flange is cut for 1⅝in primaries, the smaller of the common bores. Smaller primaries keep exhaust gas speed up, which favours low-down and mid-range response — well suited to a street Holden V8. As a flange it's the head-side foundation a fabricator builds the header from, not a finished bolt-on.
