The MPI Automotive MKFD0318 is the valved one: a 3in full system for the FN Ford Mustang 5.0L V8 (2018) built around a rear bi-modal muffler, with centre hotdogs and a 4in quad tip. The bi-modal valve lets the car switch between a quieter mode and a louder one rather than running a fixed note.
What does the bi-modal muffler do?
A bi-modal muffler carries an internal valve that opens and closes a path through the silencer. Closed, exhaust takes the muffled route for a more restrained note; open, it takes the freer path and the system speaks up. On this FN Mustang full system the rear bi-modal lets you have a civil drive and a louder mode without swapping hardware — the switchable character that fixed mufflers can't offer.
How is this full system put together?
This is the complete 3in run: centre hotdogs (compact straight-through resonators) tune the mid-section, the rear bi-modal handles silencing and the mode switch, and it finishes through a 4in quad tip. As a full system it replaces more of the factory exhaust than a cat-back alone, so it's the broader change of the FN range.
