The MPI Automotive MKGW0009 finishes through a hotdog — a compact straight-through resonator instead of a chambered rear box. That single choice is what sets this 3in turbo-back for the GWM Cannon ute 2.0L turbo-diesel (2020–2025) apart from the muffler build in the same range.

What the hotdog does to the note

A hotdog is a small straight-through resonator: gas passes through a perforated core wrapped in packing, so it trims edge and resonance without the reflection of a full muffler. On the 2.0L Cannon that places the note between a quiet rear-muffler build and a fully open one — freer-flowing and harder than a muffler, but with some silencing the open version drops. It is the pick for owners who want more voice from the diesel without going wide open at the rear.

Why the cat-delete blocks NSW registration

This build runs without the catalytic converter. Removing the cat from the engine-back run means it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is sold for off-road and competition use only. There is no softening of that — a cat-delete turbo-back on a road-driven diesel ute does not meet the standard.

How it sits on the 2020–2025 Cannon

At 3in this turbo-back covers the full run from the turbo outlet rearward on the 2020–2025 ute, with the hotdog handling resonance near the rear rather than a muffler. MPI Automotive lists the MKGW0009 at $2143.21, and as a complete turbo-back it is generally ordered in to suit your build.

Common questions

How loud is the hotdog version?
A hotdog is a straight-through resonator, so it is freer-flowing and harder than a chambered-muffler build but keeps more silencing than an open system. We can walk you through the trade-off for your Cannon.
Is it road legal in NSW?
No. With the catalytic converter removed it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is for off-road use only.
