What's the hotdog-and-muffler layout?
This 2.5in dual package uses a hotdog — a small straight-through resonator — ahead of the rear muffler, with tubular extractors feeding the system from the heads. The hotdog takes the edge off resonance in the mid-range while the rear muffler does the main silencing, which is a different balance from the twin-muffler version MPI also lists for this car.
What does an extractor system do?
