The MPI Automotive MKHN0229 runs two mufflers in series, the most silenced of the rear layouts offered for this V8 ute. It's a 2.5in dual extractor system listed to fit the Holden Commodore V8 ute across the VU, VY and VZ utes.
Why a twin-muffler rear?
The MKHN0229 carries a muffler-then-muffler arrangement, so the gas passes through two silencing boxes before it exits. That's the quietest of the rear options on this package, the choice for an owner who wants the freer-breathing extractors and 2.5in pipework but keeps the cabin and the neighbours comfortable. The note is the most subdued of the three, without giving up the manifold upgrade up front.
What is the extractor section doing?
Up front the system swaps the factory cast manifolds for tubular extractors that merge into a 2.5in dual run. Tubular runners breathe more freely than cast iron, which is the point of fitting extractors at all. It's a dual layout the length of the ute, one path per bank. No flow, sound or power numbers are published for it, and we won't invent any.
