What does this MKHN0254 system cover?
This is a dual-pipe extractor-back package for the VY–VZ one-tonner V8: tubular extractors at the heads feed two 2.5in lines back, with a hotdog resonator and a muffler doing the silencing. On the one-tonner body that's the whole exhaust path from the engine rearward. Compared with the no-muffler version MPI lists for the same car, this is the tamer build.
What's a hotdog-and-muffler dual setup and what does it change?
Extractors replace the cast manifolds with tubular runners to ease back-pressure off the heads. The hotdog is a compact straight-through resonator that trims the harsh edge of the note, and the main muffler carries the bulk of the silencing. Running both on a dual system keeps a working one-tonner's V8 note resolved rather than droning on the road — the trade-off being more pipework and a quieter result than the without-muffler configuration.
