Why the hotdog-and-muffler layout?
This package pairs a hotdog resonator with a muffler. The hotdog is a straight-through inline silencer that knocks down drone first, so by the time the gas reaches the main muffler the cabin boom is already softened. On a long-wheelbase WH Statesman — a car built to cruise — that's a deliberate choice for a cleaner, more settled note than a muffler alone on 3in pipe.
What does the 3in dual run with 1⅞in primaries suit?
