The MPI Automotive MKHN0438 is the 3in extractor-and-muffler package for the VF HSV Maloo V8 ute. Its defining trait is the Maloo ute body: the whole rear half is routed for a tray and ute chassis, not a sedan boot, which is what dictates this set's layout.
What does the Maloo ute body dictate?
A Maloo runs its exhaust under an open tray and over the ute's rear suspension and chassis rails, a very different rear-end to a sedan. The MKHN0438 is the 3in system laid out for that ute geometry, so the rear pipework and muffler sit where the ute body allows rather than being squeezed in from a different platform. That ute-specific routing is the reason this is its own listing.
What does the system replace?
It's a header-back overhaul for the VF Maloo V8: tuned-length extractors replace the factory cast manifolds at the heads, then feed a matched 3in exhaust running a full muffler. The cast manifolds and original ute pipework come out together and are replaced as one MKHN0438 set, so headers, 3in bore and silencing are matched.
What does the muffler give a worked ute?
The full chambered muffler is the more restrained silencing choice on the 3in run; it lifts the note over stock while keeping the cabin liveable on a Maloo that's often used as a working ute as well as a weekend car. The 3in bore behind it keeps flow up for the V8.
