Built in stainless, the MPI Automotive SSMBM230MF is a 2in muffler listed to fit the Fairlane NC V8 sedan — a replacement silencer for the rear of the system, with the corrosion life that stainless brings to an older car.
Why the stainless muffler?
The SS prefix marks this as the stainless version. On a car of the Fairlane NC's era, the original mild-steel muffler is the part most likely to have rusted through first. A stainless replacement resists the internal condensation and corrosion that kills mild-steel silencers, so it is the longer-life choice — worth it when you are not keen to be back under the car in a few years.
