The MPI Automotive SSMKGW0007 runs no rear muffler but keeps the catalytic converter on its 3in turbo-back for the 2.0L TD GWM Cannon ute (2020–2025) — an open, louder build that still retains the factory emissions hardware.
What does deleting the muffler but keeping the cat do?
Removing the rear chambered muffler is the biggest single lift in flow and volume, and on the SSMKGW0007 it's done while leaving the catalytic converter in place. The result is a loud, open 3in note from the turbo back, with the cat as the only restriction remaining in the path. It suits an owner who wants maximum presence but still wants the emissions hardware retained.
Is the SSMKGW0007 road legal?
Because it keeps the catalytic converter, this system retains the emissions equipment the Cannon left the factory with — the part that matters for road compliance on a diesel ute. Volume is a separate matter: with no muffler it's loud, and noise rules still apply. Confirm the exact build and any state requirements with the workshop before fitting.
Where does a turbo-back sit?
Turbo-back means the run from the turbo outlet rearward is replaced in 3in pipe, so the larger bore starts where a 2.0L diesel is most restricted. The SSMKGW0007 keeps that bore open by running no rear muffler while still retaining the cat.
