The freest-flowing build in the range, the MPI Automotive SSMKGW0010 is a 3in turbo-back for the 2.0L TD GWM Cannon ute (2020–2025) that runs no rear muffler and deletes the catalytic converter — the loudest, least restricted option here, and an off-road system.

What does running no muffler and no cat mean?

With both the rear muffler and the catalytic converter removed, the SSMKGW0010 is the most open layout in the family — straight 3in pipe from the turbo back. The note is the hardest and loudest of the Cannon options because there's no chambered box damping it and no cat in the path. It's aimed at owners chasing maximum flow for an off-road or competition build, not a quiet daily.

Is the SSMKGW0010 road legal?

No. Because it deletes the catalytic converter on a turbo-back system, this is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is for off-road use only. Removing the cat takes out the emissions hardware the Cannon left the factory with, so it can't be run on a registered vehicle on public roads. We won't fit it to a road-registered ute.

Why choose a cat-delete turbo-back?

Turbo-back replaces the run from the turbo outlet rearward, and deleting the cat and muffler removes the two biggest flow restrictions in that path. On a small-capacity diesel like the Cannon's 2.0L that's the most open configuration available — appropriate where the ute is used off-road or for closed events. Bore stays at 3in throughout.

What does fitting involve at our Illawarra workshop?

Oak Flats Muffler Men supplies and fits systems like this in-house across the Illawarra for off-road use, confirming the Cannon's 2020–2025 build and clearances first. It's listed to fit the 2.0L Cannon; tell us how the vehicle is used and we'll advise on the right system.

Common questions

Can I register a Cannon with the SSMKGW0010 fitted?
No. It deletes the catalytic converter, so it isn't ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW. It's for off-road use only.
Is this the loudest option for the Cannon?
Of the listed configurations, yes — it runs no rear muffler and no cat, so it's the most open and the hardest-sounding.
